Developing Community Leaders

We depend on leaders to strengthen and sustain our community connections and know that leaders are made, not born. OCF’s civic leadership programs address a wide population, from teens to seniors in rural and urban communities and serve as a pillar of our mission.

Hundreds of community leaders across Oregon volunteer to improve the quality of life in our state. They serve on boards and commissions, advocate for policy change and help raise funds for a favorite cause. Their guidance and willingness to take on these crucial responsibilities are key to the foundation’s ability to help change lives. OCF’s programs to foster leaderships include:

Community 101

This exciting and innovative program offers high school students service and leadership opportunities under the auspices of their schools. Participating schools receive funds for grantmaking. Students work together to identify community needs, research nonprofits, volunteer at sites, review grant applications and make funding decisions.

Latino Partnership Project

The program promotes the development of leaders and organizations in the Latino community and strengthens ties between Latino and non-Latino community leaders.
