Sept. 5, 2023: Problem Solving with Deferred Charitable Gift Annuities with David Wheeler Newman
Tuesday, September 5, 2023 12:00 PM-1:30 PM | FREE
This seminar reviewed how charitable gift annuities appeal to donors due to their simplicity and security, and to charities because of their relatively low cost compared to other gift vehicles. Some of the more creative gift-planning opportunities involve deferred charitable gift annuities (DCGAs). After quickly reviewing the tax aspects of DCGAs, David Wheeler Newman examined the planning ideas, illustrated with case studies, for use of DCGAs to address various situations, including retirement income planning, flexible deferred annuities, and DCGAs funded with net sales proceeds.
David Wheeler Newman represents individuals and families on estate planning and tax planning in connection with investment activities. He advises charitable organizations concerning governance, tax exemption and charitable gift planning programs. He earned a J.D. from University of California Los Angeles School of Law and an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law.
