Hate and Violence Have No Place with OCF
Eight lives were lost—including six women of Asian descent—to senseless acts of hatred and violence on March 16. To the loved ones of these victims, we offer our deepest condolences. Our hearts break with yours.
Oregon Community Foundation stands in solidarity with our Asian-American, Pacific Islander (AAPI) community members. We recognize the fear and pain that have come from longstanding racist, misogynistic hatred and violence directed at the AAPI community in Oregon and across the country. This horrifying hatred and violence have only escalated since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is unacceptable that our AAPI neighbors continue to experience this level of violence and harm.
We need to stand against hate and racism and be steadfast in our commitment to support communities of color across the state through deep listening, authentic engagement, acknowledging and addressing past and current harm and putting a renewed focus on the work to be done to advance a more inclusive, diverse and equitable Oregon.
