Dr. Adrien Bennings
President, Portland Community College
At a time when many are dismayed by higher education – high costs, divisive politics or uncertain pathways from college to a successful life, Dr. Bennings’ leadership and innovation with programs like ‘Future Connect’ will help make college more accessible to those in our community who need it most. She believes that the most invaluable asset to any business, institution, or community is PEOPLE. Nurture the potential within, teach them by example, and help them grow beyond perceived limitations.
Marko Bey
Executive Director, Lomakatsi Restoration Project
Lomakatsi works in partnership with Native American Tribes and tribal communities to restore ecosystems while creating jobs and long term employment through adult and youth workforce training programs. Marko Bey will share how efforts to ‘meet in the radical center’ can do good things for the land and economies and communities – an approach that to date has restored 13,000 forest acres around Ashland and in the Rogue River-Siskyou National Forest.
Kenny La Point
Executive Director, Mid-Columbia Community Action Council
Project Turnkey is an unprecedented investment in our shared future. A swift, smart, statewide response to Oregon’s housing crisis turned underused or vacant real estate into safe shelter and a fresh start for thousands of unhoused Oregonians. ‘The Annex,’ in the Dalles, is a Turnkey property providing both transitional housing for families and shelter for those experiencing chronic homelessness. Kenny La Point will share some highs, lows and community togetherness to deliver the first family shelter in the Dalles.
