“Generations”

Opening Performance

The song Generations was composed by a collective of musicians led by Brent Florendo, who is Wasco, Yakama, Warm Springs, and performed by Tribal members from throughout the state. The song is one of several featured in the Oregon State Song Anthology, a statewide project inviting Oregonians of all ages to help shape a living cultural symbol through music. Learn more here.

 

Sebé Kan

Closing Performance

Sebé Kan is a West African drum and dance performance company with 32 youth members ages 7–18. Their instructors, drummers and dancers study and perform works from Mali, Guinea and Ivory Coast. Sebé Kan (pronounced SAY-BAY-KAHN) is a Malinké word meaning “Serious Sound,” something that was predestined. Sebé Kan believes its members and audiences share an important connection to West Africa through music and dance. Learn more here.
