Parenting Education

Supporting community-based programs to expand access for all parents.

The Oregon Parenting Education Collaborative (OPEC)

OPEC supports parents in their critical role as their children's first and most important teachers by helping communities expand access to proven programs and build stronger, more coordinated parenting education services. Learn More.

Reach Out and Read

This national evidence-based program incorporates books into pediatric care and encourages families to reach aloud together. The program trains medical providers to "prescribe" reading, singing and talking with young children, as a simple and effective way of fostering nurturing, language-rich family interactions that support brain development. Every family receives an age-appropriate book during each well-child checkup. OCF supports Oregon's efforts to expand the model across the state. View the Oregon impact of Reach Out and Read.
