Oregon Community Foundation’s Northeast Oregon Heritage Fund helps preserve Indigenous lifeways

An organization’s mission statement drives its actions. With help from Oregon Community Foundation’s Northeast Oregon Heritage Fund two organizations are putting their missions into action by supporting Indigenous lifeways. When Wallowa Land Trust in Enterprise took a hard look at its mission, there was a realization that part of the community it was striving to support was missing. The Trust, formed in 2004, protects the rural nature of Wallowa County by working cooperatively with private landowners, Indigenous people, local communities and governmental entities to conserve land.
