There are many resources to help you navigate the world of postsecondary education, scholarships and financial aid. Here are some we’ve found to be the most useful. 

Scholarships and Financial Aid

  • Federal Student Aid comprises US Department of Education information on preparing for and funding education beyond high school.
  • Oregon’s Office of Student Access and Completion (OSAC) lists hundreds of scholarships for students, including most of OCF’s, with a common online application form.
  • BigFuturecreated by College Board, offers a free nation-wide scholarship search platform.
  • The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a federal form designed to assess financial need, set an amount for parents and students to contribute from their own resources, and verify student eligibility for aid. Most applicants for need-based scholarships must complete this form.
  • The federal Student Aid Estimator is a good first-step tool; offering after a few key questions an estimate of how much federal student aid you may be eligible to receive.
  • FinAid is a comprehensive source of financial aid information, advice and tools, including some calculators to help you estimate your costs

College Research

  • College Board allows you to search for colleges and universities by location, major, and cost.
  • College Navigator is a free, online search tool from the US Department of Education that helps students find, compare, and analyze colleges and universities in areas like academic programs and graduation rates.
  • College Nights hosts in-person events to help students understand the college planning process.

Career Research

  • The US’s Occupational Outlook Handbook compiles information from the Department of Labor about career opportunities and trends.
  • BigFuture has a career platform allowing you to take quizzes and search potential career paths.

Oregon Programs

  • Oregon Goes to College offers information and planning one’s college future from start-to-finish, with numerous free tools to help you prepare, apply, and attend school.
  • ASPIRE, administered by OSAC, offers education, resources, and mentoring opportunities for all students.
