Disaster Readiness and Response Fund
Standing with Oregon communities before, during and after disasters
Home to more than 4.2 million people, Oregon stretches 98,000 square miles, with expansive mountain ranges, valleys, forests, rivers, wetlands and great open spaces. While beautiful, these natural features also mean Oregon’s communities are increasingly vulnerable to wildfires, floods, ice storms, heatwaves and other catastrophes.
Whether Oregonians live in cities, towns or rural communities, they are at risk during these disasters. From immediate concerns like people’s safety and health to the long-term impacts faced in recovery—OCF’s Disaster Readiness and Response Fund equips communities to respond, recover and build resilience.
This fund brings donations from across the state into a single funding pool, so that when disaster strikes, we can quickly deploy grants to communities in need. In addition to emergency response, we focus on helping communities mitigate or prepare for disasters ahead of time. This fund can support emergency supplies and shelter, electricity during power outages, fire mitigation, flood control measures, training, specialized equipment and more.
With a unique statewide perspective, OCF plays a critical role, working with communities to identify needs and helping connect regions. As part of the Oregon Disaster Funders Network, OCF partners with other mission-driven organizations to build a stronger and more resilient Oregon.
Gifts to this fund help prepare and protect Oregonians.
