Reach Out and Read

This national evidence-based program incorporates books into pediatric care and encourages families to reach aloud together. The program trains medical providers to "prescribe" reading, singing and talking with young children, as a simple and effective way of fostering nurturing, language-rich family interactions that support brain development. Every family receives an age-appropriate book during each well-child checkup.
