Jean-Marie Callan leads research and learning efforts that help OCF understand context, learn from what we do, and use our learning to make better decisions. Connecting local knowledge, lessons from OCF's work, and broader trends, she surfaces insights that shape the foundation's work across Oregon. Her work has spanned issues that matter to Oregon communities, from economic opportunity and family well-being to education and community connection.

 

Prior to joining OCF, Jean-Marie built her career at the intersection of research, policy, and practice. She spent nearly a decade with the NYC Mayor's Office for Economic Opportunity where she served as Deputy Director of Programs & Evaluation, leading program evaluation efforts with nationally recognized research firms to generate actionable evidence, inform program and policy decisions, and advance equity. Her broader experience spans research, evaluation, and programmatic roles across government, nonprofit, and philanthropic organizations.

 

She holds a Master's Degree in Public Affairs from Princeton University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics & Philosophy from Seattle University. She grew up off the southern slopes of Mt. Tabor and today can often be found walking its trails or pausing to watch the sun set over Portland..
