In his role as OCF’s senior program officer for scholarships and postsecondary education, Matthew is animated by the broad goals of improving the affordability of postsecondary education for Oregonians, increasing access to those opportunities across the state, and enabling student success. He leads one of the largest scholarship programs of its kind in the country—awarding thousands of students every year to support their education ambitions. In scholarships and grantmaking, he partners with donors, nonprofits, schools, and state and local government to achieve these goals.

Prior to OCF, Matthew most recently worked at Reed College as the Director of Admission Operations and as the Director of Fellowship Programs at the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS). He received a bachelor’s in political science and Spanish, and a master’s and doctorate in political science.

When not working, Matthew is an avid cyclist, enjoys woodworking, and whatever other myriad distractions he’s fallen into that month.
