Education after high school is key to securing a good job and building a successful career. But tuition, fees and expenses stop many, especially those from low-income families and rural areas, those who are first in their families to attend college, and students of color. Join a community committed to making education accessible for all.
William Contreras, a two-time scholarship recipient, says the awards opened the door to an education his “family has never had.” The funding helps cover tuition, books, and tools at Lane Community College. As the first in his family to attend college, he hopes to start his own auto repair business and inspire his younger siblings. “Having been chosen means a lot,” he says, “because I can set a good example.”
Hope-Ann Whitaker, a two-time scholarship recipient from rural Central Oregon, returned to school in her 30s to pursue a career in science and technology. After struggling with school in the past, she’s now excelling. Hope-Ann credits the scholarship with easing financial pressures, allowing her to focus on her education. “This time around I am an A and B student; I even made the honor roll,” she says.
