Oregon is facing one of the most severe housing shortages in its history, leaving families in rural and urban communities struggling to find homes they can afford. The Building Hope Fund is designed to kickstart housing projects that are ready to be built but stalled due to a lack of financing. By providing flexible loans and strategic grants, the fund helps unlock construction and move projects forward quickly.

Our initial focus is on housing for middle-income Oregonians who are increasingly priced out of the market, including teachers, nurses, tradespeople, restaurant workers, small business owners and others who keep our communities running.

A chronic shortage

Too few housing units are in the pipeline, driving up costs and putting stable housing out of reach for thousands of families. Even when developers have projects ready to go, construction is often delayed because the final pieces of financing aren’t in place.
